Thought of the week – Kindness

Kindness is the quality of being gentle, caring and helpful.

There is a saying ‘What goes around comes around’. So, just be polite and kind in your behaviour and the same will come back to you. Being kind to self is equally important as being kind to others. Don’t be harsh with yourself and give space to the trivial mistakes in life. As, we only learn by committing mistakes. Learn from the experience and move ahead in a positive direction.

Kindness costs nothing but it can help to make our world a happy place to live.

Nobody likes to be around unkind people or people who put them down or mistreats them. Saying simple words such as ‘thank you’ is easy to say in order to show gratitude towards others. Kindness depicts an individual’s characteristics.

Kindness helps to create positive surroundings. Showing kindness can bring joy to the receiver. Kindness begins at home. If you can show kindness towards your siblings and other family members then you can be kind towards the rest of the world. Be kind towards your office colleagues and neighbours to create a positive social environment wherever you go.

It should be noted that kindness should never be treated as a virtue that needs to be showcased. Instead, it should be fostered as a basic behavioural human characteristic. To lead a happy and successful life we must learn to include kindness in every area of life.

  1. The world would be a much better place if everyone showed more kindness to strangers. We don’t know what positive lift we may give someone by being kind.
